Analysing the bone cement flow in the injection apparatus during vertebroplasty

Vertebroplasty, a medical procedure for treating vertebral fractures, requires practitioners to inject bone cement inside the vertebra using cannula attached syringe. The required injection force must be small enough practitioner apply it by hand while remaining stable controlled injection. Several factors could make unintuitive practitioners, one of them being non-Newtonian nature cement. viscosity varies as flows through different parts apparatus and porous cancellous interior vertebra. Therefore, is important study flow these parts. This work preliminary on apparatus. Firstly, we obtained rheological parameters power law model experiments standard clinical equipment. These were then used obtain shear rate, viscosity, velocity profiles cannula. Lastly, an analysis was carried out understand influence various geometrical apparatus, in which radius found most influential parameter.
